Read Full books of the bible in one sitting? won’t that take a long time?

Yes! And yes, sometimes it will. The books vary in length. Some of the letters in the New Testament are shorter so they will be combined. Others like Psalms take roughly five hours to read through… yes, five hours. I actually started out with Psalms with a group of 8, not only was it possible to get through, it was a truly blessed experience. The average session will be 2-3 hours in length. Occasionally we will tackle the longer books. Don’t let the time scare you, you aren’t required to sit the whole time. Be challenged. Be blessed.

Will there be any discussion about what we are reading?

During the introduction every session, we will read a synopsis/overview of the prepared book. We will not be going into further discussion over the text itself. We seek to provide a very ecumenical space for all believers and unbelievers as well, where God’s word is the center and focus of our time together. It truly speaks for itself. Our plan is to ingest the scriptures as whole big chunks instead of small nibbles. At the end of each session will be a call to move each person present into deeper study of the book we just read. Each session will have a dig deeper link provided with additional guides and resources to encourage personal time with God and his word.

What translation will you be reading from?

We will primarily be using the New Living Translation. We are open to using a different one if it is preferred by the host church.

Will there be childcare? Can my kids come?

We will not be able to provide childcare for our events due to the movement from place to place each month. We love children and want them to experience all the things of God that are available to them! We would ask that you carefully consider whether or not your child is mature and ready to sit for a long form reading of scripture. We do intend for this time to be focused and reverent and hope to minimize distractions. My own sweet babes are 4 and 6 and are definitely not ready to attend these sessions just yet, but I look forward to the day they are able to help me read the scripture aloud.

Is this only happening in the Pensacola, FL Area?
